iPhone 4 vs * (or, the iPhone fanboy thread)

Jesse MS3GT

Modifying and hacking phones has become my number one hobby lately, and the fact that I cant even take the battery out of the Iphone... is a big do not want!!
Dude, Apple did that because it's better that way. Helps keep the phone looking sleek. ^ Some other BS argument to justify requiring you to enter an Apple store just because your battery took a shit.

Its akin to why Honda doesn't make any of their cars have any torque, its better that way.

I have had my phone fully apart. The thing is not the complicated.

I am going to downgrade to the 2g net package

Thank you Jesse for putting the time into this arguement, you said it much better then I. Steve Jobs would fit in well in China

So angry... but interestingly, this thread is about the iPhone, not about Apple. You clearly have issues with them as a company (and spelling they're). It's not my fault you can't articulate a logical argmuent though.

For me, it's two MAJOR things. #1- I don't like Apples proprietary format rules. I refuse to install iTunes or anything like that on any of my own tech stuff. It's not the use problem, they're actually quite intuitive. I just don't want that type of device taking over my stuff.

And- I need buttons.

Sorry man, I'm not taking the time to debate with people who need to make personal attacks to bolster there arguements (ignoring my backhanded comment, but I can't let you go around shitting on me for such stupid and childish things) and who's arguements are based on emotion rather then reason. Yes, I was being dramatic in my first statements, but as shown by Jesse, they were grounded in fact. And I don't have that big an issue with Apple, just with the Apple fanatics, who's emotional attactment to one brand blinds them to reality, like that fact that the iPhone has not been an inovative product for the last two generations, and is repeatedly now playing catch up and is not 2 steps ahead of everyone else like they seem to think.

And please, keep correcting my grammer, it funny for me to watch how petty people can be.

LOL

You haven't posted a single argument that wasn't completely ridiculous. I had to decipher your "dramatic" statements and post the facts myself. As I said before, I'm aware of the issues that you attempted to bring up, but not everyone is. If I wanted to discuss it with myself, I wouldn't have created a thread about it.

Let's see:

If you enjoyed AOL style internet access, where Steve Jobs controls how you see the web, and your the type of person who likes living in a gated community, then this phone is for you!
I invited you to actually make the argument (in a tone similar to your's, I would say), and how did you respond?

So your disputing the fact that Apple and Steve Jobs limit what can be done and see on the internet on an iphone and that Apple is helping causing internet fragmentation or are you trying to ignore negitive facts and are attempting to limit open discussion? Cause I see my post as being On Point, as it directly relates to the iphone and apple.
Again, I don't see any supporting facts or examples of what you're even talking about. Arguement that apple doesn't support flash, I think. So I covered that in a way that presents the information logically. And you went into hiding... until this:

Thank you Jesse for putting the time into this arguement, you said it much better then I. Steve Jobs would fit in well in China

I guess when you recap...

You: post a ridiculous statement.
Me: Remind you this is onpoint, correct spelling.
You: Attempt to make an arguement but leave out facts. Further ridiculous statements.
Me: Attempt to decipher your attempt to make a point, provide facts.
You: Go into hiding and come back with more useless posts and personal attacks.

Yup.

So- to recap the entire thread in two paragraphs or less. Dan likes Applefonez. Jesse, myself, and Jurgen do not. Luke is ambivalent, since he plans on hacking it anyhow, and is more concerned with the hardware.

What's funny is we are on page 4, and I've not seen shit for response that more than barely relates to the reason for this post, if you forgot or just didn't bother to read:

"I'm interested in hearing other peoples opinions on what other options are out there for a smartphone user."

All I've heard is OMG YOU CANT REPLACE THE BATTERY! and FUCKIN APPLE *RAGEFACCEROLLONTHEKEYBOARD*..... wow I can't replace the battery? really? I've never replaced a battery in my phone, but maybe thats because I dont usually have a phone more than 1 year, 2 at most. I would have expected to see posts like 'what features of the iphone are most important to you' or 'have you looked at X phone, its similar to the iphone in these ways but better in whatever ways'

To be honest I was very tempted to try and live with my 3G till January and get an android phone, since they actually have a lot to offer (on other carriers) but the iPhone 4 offers enough of what i need/want, is more compact which is of importance to me, and I dont have to deal with waiting another 6-7 months and changing carriers again. Anyone who really knows me, knows I'm far from an apple fanboi, I used to HATE apple, but I also am not one to shun a product just because their ARE those fanbois out there, I buy whatever product meets my needs the best.

After having an N1 for a few months now I can honestly say iphones aren't so bad. Apple (and by extension their phones) def have a unified user experience which for me is more important than being able to take good pics. You may miss out on some apps here and there, but a majority of the apps come out on iphone first anyways. If you don't mind that apple is a little more hands-on than android or winmo then I say go for it. And remeber to buy this http://gizmodo.com/5558144/phoneballs-case-protects-iphone-from-hairy-situations

This post by the biggest Apple/iPhone humper EVER makes me LOL

Upgraded my 3g to 4.0 jailbroke to make it have native multitasking. Now i can tell why apple decided not to support multitasking on 3g, it can barely run more than 2 apps at the same time and then it just slows way down. But Pandora works great and can be controlled right from the dock which is awesome. Testing it right now to see how the battery life is with pandora running.

BTW, unlock is out for all the new basebands firmwares and bootroms. So with new Redsn0w jail break you get untethered jailbreak and ultrasnow works with new baseband for unlock.
Now we see why the iPhone 3g didn't do multi tasking. As I stated before, If Android phones ran one task at a time, they'd run smoother than iPhones without multitasking.

The 3g is a two year old phone with a 400mhz processor and 128mb RAM, of course it can't handle multitasking. The android OS wasn't even released until a few months after this phone came out. When did Android get multitasking, I don't recall if it was available at release or not.
