Is my sub blown or bad?

So burn this CD of wave files. If burned in correct order track 4 is what makes my sub sound like I think its bad. I hear that noise listening to talk radio and then some bassy rap songs.

Please help me out, burn and test it asap and let me know so I can tell the dealer no its just my car please replace sub! or Im just a fail. Im at 35k miles and the car is at the dealer now!

Thanks!

What do you mean by 'bad'? And how do you have the levels on everything set in your car? what volume is it 'bad' at?

Oh and you has Bose? Because I do not.

Ok I have the GT so the stock Bose system. back when I had subs in highschool it sounds like a blown one, real distorted and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh. I have my bass at +1 or +2. Volume can range from 12-14 is my usual. Its only at track 4's frequency though, all others its fine....so either that frequency the stock sub sucks or maybe something fell in? idk....

Yeah, you may just be trying to play audio outside of it's range and it's not souding real great, especially if only one song or part of a song causes it. But if it played this same song fine earlier and now it doesnt something might be up. I'd test but I has no bose

Also moved this to car audio.

My bet is that, since other frequency ranges sound find, you're simply hitting a frequency that resonates the sub enclosure. I highly doubt the driver itself is going bad. Worst case, the sub enclosure is loose in its mounts.

There's no way the Bose sub is shot. Loose maybe, but not blown. You can't really blow a Bose sub, there isn't enough power for that. And when you start driving REAL loud, your low pass cuts and it filters everything to the mids. That is why the Bose sounds like shit at full whack. Lots of noise... but not much else.

yeah it does make sense at that 1 frequency. I'll need to put a screen on the port though I hear change and things fall in there and bounce on the sub.

The outlet hose that the base is directed out of aim directly up and at the crack between the seat and center console, and makes a great coin and debris collector. I cleaned mine out when I had my front seat out and had about $1 worth of change and a few candy wrappers come out of it and it made it sound good again. I'd check that, only 4 bolts hold in the seat and 4 screws hold in the sub I think.

Depends on the sound.. the description isn't the best for the bad sound?

also depending on the frequency and since the vehicle is so new I doubt that it is blown unles you abuse your speakers but some rap songs do hit much lower than the factory bose paper crap tastic material can handle.

I can listen to it at a meet and tell you what's up

Since it's only happening at certain frequencies (and not even the lowest ones the sub can play), it's pretty safe to say that the woofer is just fine. I still think it's the sub enclosure resonating in its mounts.

Can you try pulling the sub out, but leave it disconnected and just sitting in the passenger footwell? Play the same song then and see if it makes the same noise. If not, then it's the mounts under the seat.

I tried to tighten the mounts, but they were all tight. at the end of that vid the "lite" bass it had the same baaaaa sound but the iphone didnt pick it up well. I dont remember that song having this issue 1 yr ago.

that to me sure sounds like a lose panel in the cabinet. that does not sound like a blown woofer. but i would have to be there to know for sure, but it sure sounds like the side panels or some part of the cab is rattling.

Suppose I should update on my findings. Well I found out last week that the exhaust pipe coming out the back of the passenger seat was rattling against the floor pan. When I would put my hand under it and push up, the noise would stop.
