Looking for a car

Loving you're and best car ever are two VERY different statements. ;)

Also, why is no one thinking Italia for my next car, in white. ;)

Tint and a smart phone based remote start will be all this thing gets. Well, maybe other than wheels and some good tires for the summer.

You know, I used to be big on remote start, but even parking outside on the street in -10 weather, both our cars blow warm air within about 1/2 mile of city driving, and by the time I hit the bottom of the freeway ramp after about 2 miles, I'm turning the heat down. A guy at work here talks about running his car for like 20 minutes before his 3 mile drive to work... WHY??

Anyway, congrats on the purchase!

I have two questions. When you modify a leased car, are there any implications when you turn it in? I mean tint doesn't harm it and neither does a remote start (at least when properly done)...but does a dealer frown upon any of this?

And second, what is the point in putting money into a car you are leasing since you just have to turn it in after the lease? And please don't tell me you would consider purchasing the car after the lease...if that becomes the case, you would have been better off buying the car in the first place.

Just curious...thanks. P.S...glad you went with the G37xS...my only gripe (which I know was one of your criteria so it's a moot point) is that they don't offer the x with a manual.

Actually, I'll add a third question because I'm stupid when it comes to leasing. In your opinion, why would someone lease. I mean what are your pros vs cons or what would make you want a lease rather than a purchase? How does someone decide if it's right for them?

I agree with you, yet I love my remote start. We have it on the truck and use is all year long. We use it in the summer to allow the AC a chance to fire up so it's not too hot. We love it in the winter for cold and snow clearing of the winshield when parked outside. It's more about keeping the comfort in check and not having to deal with the elements for even a short period of time.

If i turn the car over, I would need to remove the tint and remote start before hand. Actually, if the tint is legal I think most companies would allow that, the remote start though needs to come out from what I understand as it won't be a factory option.

There are several reason why Jana and I lease, and one of those is that we both enjoy the 'fresh and new'. We are buying the truck, plan to keep that for a long time. The G is a fun car and if we don't still love it after 2 years, no harm, we'll turn it in. We understand some people don't see the value in essntially "renting" a car for that long, but it's personal preference.

As far as being better off if we planned to keep it, with how well the G series leases out, if I boguht the car at the end of the lease for the listed market price (which is determined now, not in 2 years), it very much could work in my favor several ways. First, the value of the car could be higher than the residual price now, which means I'd have a favorable buy amount. Second, when you do the math between what Im' paying thee two year and consider the difference in the MSRP and the residual price in two years I'm coming out ahead no matter what if I decide to buy. A car that holds value can beleased first, then bought, and provide a potential savings to the buyer. Especially with the way the used car market is hurting right now due to the cash for clunkers program that took place. Lease to own right now is very strategic on the right cars.

The Regal was also a very nice car, leased out horrible. The mazda 6 we are turning in, residual price of $13k, current kbb value is $11k. even if we wanted to buy our mazada 6 we could save $2k by turning the current car over and buying a different one for $2k less, maybe more with used car haggle.

End result with any car purchase, know the numbers, start to finish. I know what is coming out of my pocket for the next two years, and I can say if I buy the car at the end of the lease the net impact of what I'd be paying is actually only half of the total money I'm spending. And with solid rates in place we get the benefit of tossing out payments even longer.

I bought my ms3 out from under the lease, saved me several thousand dollars, it can work out.

I'd lease for business purposes, as it's far easier to deduct it as an expense. i.e. use the car 50% of the time for business, and you can deduct 50% of the total cost to own the vehicle.

AJ, would you mind sending me some of the details such as:

Where did you buy?
What options/packages did you include/add?
What were some of your final numbers (if you're willing to share)?

This info will help me when looking at a very similar setup. Feel free to PM me.
