Switch to synthetic transmission fluid. Check to see what kind of fluids people are using on a RX forum, because the optimal stuff can vary a lot between transmissions. My old mazda3 and MSP both responded well to Redline MT-90, but the festiva in my garage actually uses automatic transmission fluid, so you never know....

But some kind of sythetic should definitely help, especially if the stuff that's in there now is old and/or OEM spec.

Redline MT-90 and Royal Purple Max Gear 75w-90 are good choices for the rx-7 transmissions.

I run royal purple. But you dont need to spend that kind of cash.

Mobil1 75w-90 is a good choice too.

Its normal to have that when its this cold. My car does it, my Dads car does it, both of my brothers cars do it. It just gets a little more solid in cold weather, but if you really find it annoying switching to synthetic fluid like dmention said would definitely help

Okay, Ivan it's been bugging me for awhile, so I had to edit your title so that "transmission" was spelled correctly. lol
