There has been a lot of bike talk as of late I wanted to start this thread to collect some info.

What bike do you have? (be specific)
Where do you bike?
What clubs/groups are out there?
Info on helping others get involved for a reasonable price. (under $500)

Go ahead and post what you have. Remember we are in the on point section.

To stay on the cheap, especially if you are looking at mountain bikes, I would highly recommend looking for a 1-2 year season old used bike or a last years model new. Bikes unfortunately don't hold their value all that well so you can usually score a $700-1000 bike for <$500 after a few years. You'll get a lot moar for your money that way than buying new.

I don't have a bike at the moment, considering a new one this year or next we'll have to see but I used to ride at Lebanon Hills in Eagan and the River bottom trails in Bloomington, both great places to ride with varying levels of difficulty.

I want to pick up some sort of a hybrid or multi use bike as well this year. It's been a long time since I have got on a bike, but I want to bring that aspect into my workout a bit, plus it's nice to just be outside. I want to start riding some local trails after work this summer and then plan a weekend trip down to Laneburo MN for some good riding.

AJ,

What pickles is saying is true. I got my bike used at Erik's bike shop right around this time last year. It is a great time to pick up a used bike and I paid about $275 for my bike, if I remember correctly. It was $900MSRP

I'm making it a priority this spring/summer to do some serious riding and hopefully ride out a century event (that is 100 miles).
Also considering picking up a mountain bike.... but that might just have to wait until next year.

I have a 2005 (I think) Specialized Sirrus. It is a great hybrid bike. Light weight, great parts, and stiff frame. I just put a brand new set of armadillo tires on it before winter. Just needs a good ole lubbin' for spring.
