Not at all. There is non-mazda talk all over the place. So I do have one question about that bug. When she was layin frame, I noticed that the camber was all wonky. Normally a car layin frame like that is like this / \ and your car was like \ \. I don't get it. Also, i'm sure the other ones on here will attest, but if you have really stupid swaps you want to attempt, we'd probably be willing to assist. I dug that bug huge tho. It's funny, I was talking to the mazda guys about the whole hoodride style, with superlow bagged bugs w/luggage racks and whatnot, and then you roll up. Nicely done.
hmmm, are you talking about the front or the rear? the back def has negative camber / \ like that. i guess i have not noticed that the front goes like \ \, i guess it could be for a # of reasons. i did the install myself in a really shitty shop, my garage floor isnt even level, so we could start there haha. but really, i have noticed that the toe in and toe out are different and way out of wack, because i fooled with the tie rods and havent had it aligned yet haha. also, the front beam is pretty shitty, and the upper torsion leaves and arms were shifted to the left a bit, which would give this \ \ effect. and one least thing, the way a beetles front supension works is torsion leaves run in tubes across the car to each tosion arm, give it spring when it twists, and the whole front end of my bug is held up by one airbag located under the passenger wheel well, so the car very slightly leans to the passenge side. thanks for the compliments though guys, i just ran out of money for the time being, one day it will be done. Here is some pics that might clear things up . . . its narrowed 3" on each side, so thats where the wheels sit where they do in the fender
front air beam(welded on tube to fill the gap, and cleaned it up since this picture haha):

just some unproffesional pics of the car(maybe mndsm can point out what part he means?)

guess what mirror this is in haha

PS-Any suggestions, comments good or bad or welcome. Already had some people say i should run bumperless?

and i live in como haha, so once its tuned right ill make a show at a few mazda meets, probably next summer though because i have $6 cash and $30 in my bank to last me two weeks, and things dont like they are changing soon haha:sewingblue:

oh, and mndsm, the hoodride style is my favorite style ever. ask steve, i have a rusty banana seat bike in my garage, planning on making a suitcase sounds system for the roof rack, i have a bunch of stencils if anyone needs some because hoodride.com is gone! you should see the looks on peoples faces when i pile bunch of coolers and shits on the roof rack, and go down the stree looking like a hermit crab.

here was my first love and inspiration(the car and the girl hehe, i wish)

^^^That's a nice! (both)
thanks, the only difference is i have about $5k into my car, including the purchase of the car, and cant even sell if for 5k most likely. i think he could probably sell his for around 15k-30k depending on the year and the mods, maybe more

Interesting.....

The funny thing is that maroon (red, ???) beetle has whacky camber too...
like compare the front to the back! :drive1:

Its messing with my mind!

Difference in suspension types, I'm sure. If the front end uses a torsion bar, and the rear end has some sort of independant geometry, then you're not going to get any negative camber up front, while the rear is going to be nuts

Kind of like the reverse of dropping a pickup...

I'M OFFENDED!
In the 4th pic down you can see that the left front wheel has some serious positive camber to it. it has the equal amount of opposite (negative) camber on the right front wheel. Or at least that's what I saw when I looked at it. Also, hoodrides being gone is teh suck.

I must attest to the fact that he did say "Nice car" as he walked over to the VWs. So, yeah everyone talks a lot, but nobody means any harm. Hopefully you stick around and come out for the meets. Welcome!

yeah. my car is a late model aka "fat chick". the lat models have a similar front end, but the lates are balljoint and the ealries are link pin. as for rears, the late models have IRS suspension(notice the lack of camber on mine compared to the early model in pic posted above with the girl, the early models had swing axle rear ends

First post has been updated with the info for our new wednesday meets at BWW... the date when we make the switch is still to be decided.

Rockin work Jay. This week should be nice, and I'm guessing the next few weeks should be nice as well, however its going to start getting dark real quick, so I'm not sure if that'll play a deciding factor in when the switch happens. /run-on sentance

Yeah, I figure we've got a solid 3 weeks left at porky's before we have to get serious about BWW. Plus, we might get some freakishly nice weather at some point that just begs us to brave a little later on. We'll be flexible ;)

Woohoo, BWW is good for me...there is lotsa shopping to be had/seen nearby if g/f's come over and get bored with the car talk and the boys get rowdy from wings and beer. :rollinglaugh:

I can honestly, say, I'm not really interested in this. I like the BWW thing, but it sounds expensive.

Just cuz you go doesn't mean you have to buy something. Or else you can just be stealth and get there a little late so that there are already a couple of orders on the table and "graze" a few wings. Heh.
