MS6 Drop Springs

So i wanna lower my ms6 really bad, not looking for anything fancy or even a major drop. but the question i have is about wheel well clearance- has any one dropped one on here, do u have to down size the wheels and tires. Looking at this http://www.streetunit.com/Eibach_Pro_Kit_Lowering_Springs_p/5543.140.htm i know they should technically work, but this summer when shopping for tires i went to a little taller tire and i had clearance issues with the passenger side rear rubbing.

Im really new to the whole modification side of cars so any and all responses are appreciated!

What are you on for wheel size? I know JT's car was pretty slammed before he sold it, and I wanna say he had 18x8's on it.

I bought a set of H&R's and never looked back. They were the biggest drop springs available, but I felt the MS6 needed it that badly. Great ride, handled very well, and the car's still on stock shocks at 60k. Tom's correct, the wheels were 18x8 at +48, IIRC. I never touched the fenders, but I was on a skinny 225/40. You should be able to get away with a 235/40 even on those springs and un-rolled fenders.

Im stupid so hang in there with me... Im on 18 x7.5 wheels (same as factory i believe). factory sizing is a 215/45/18 which is 25.6" tall and 8.5" wide. I went to a bigger tire to try and fill wheel gap(later realizing my stupidity that it raises the car also) went to 225/50/18 which is 26.9" tall and 8.9" wide. This rubbed under just a light acceleration on the passenger rear INNER fender liner, i said to myself oh the liner must be loose so i removed the wheel and pushed on the liner and it was solid, removed the liner and sure enough its solid metal tight to the fender liner. So i returned said tires and got 225/45/18 which are 25.9" tall and 8.9" wide, issue solved, but i really wanna drop it to get rid of the gap but now im afraid its just gonna rub again. BTW you on 225/40/18 would be 25.1"tall and 8.9" wide.

Sounds like you've got a pretty high offset on your wheels if they're rubbing on the inside...... do you know what it is? Because a 225/45 shouldn't rub on factory wheels, not that i've ever seen.

Yep, offset's going to make or break your clearance issues on the inside. I'd imagine those 225/45 tires you bought will work just fine with a set of drop springs. However, your wheels sound like the problem. Do you know the offset?

Truthfully i dont know the off set of the wheels, they came on the car. But according to the measurements im right around 45mm or even a lil more than that not much tho. prob just gonna order some springs and hope for the best, if not they will b up for sale!
Also any specific place to have them installed for a decent price or is this something i could tackle?

Yar, most auto parts stores will rent you a spring compressor for a free (refundable deposit), and that's really the only specialty tool you will need. The job can be done in an afternoon, no prob. Only hitch I could possibly see is if the rear axles on the MS6 get in the way... but it's generally a very straightforward job.

In any event, depending on the drop, you'll likely need to roll your fenders too. Good thing I bought a roller :D

That's what we do. We install for the price of beer, and roll fenders for low prices of pictures of presidents.

Rears are absolute cake. Just like the 3's. I'm not touching the front end of this job again though...

It's really that much worse than the 3's, or is it just because of what happened to Colins car.... cause it's really not that difficult to do, just kinda nitpickly.

No no...the rears are absolute cake, just like the 3's. I'm not touching it because of the front end meltdown I caused on Colin's car.

I see where you're going. If it makes you feel any better, a Focus install is identical and we did that with 0% drama.
