As you've all probably figured out by now, I'm horrible at deciding on appearance mods for myself. Well, here's another opportunity for everyone to tell me what to do. Right now, I've got an OEM style carbon fiber hood. I recently acquired a carbon fiber grille that needs a little bit of TLC, but should come out looking decent. I'm torn on going one of two routes for working with the body lines of the car.

Option one is to install the CF grille, and then paint the sides of my hood body color, like this:

Option two is to pick up a set of carbon fiber eyelids of the style below:

I think both of them work with the body lines of the hood and grille better than having just the hood alone, but I'm not entirely sure which I prefer... Anyone have an opinion?

option 1 for me. There are very few eyelids I actually like. That picture isn't one of them.

I've never been a fan of eyelids, so my vote is for #1. Plus, the 'squared-off' look doesn't flow right in my eyes with the eyelids.

Gah, why does the more expensive option have to be the most popular? lol

So, secondary question... how about the splitters on the front bumper in option two? Just in case I wanted to slice the achilles tendon of any pedestrians who disobeyed the crosswalk signal?

Option one for looks but a big bad for being original. I like to make my car look like nothing else. I would try and find another line to follow instead of the big v from the front.

going against the crowd, i say option 2. why paint CF? You might as well put a hood scoop on after you paint the hood and have an STi clone. keep it simple.

Hmm, I appreciate the opinions guys.

Maybe if I think a little more about what my long-term appearance goals are (which is something I am terrible at), it will help clear things up.

I found couple pics of another MSP with the same deal as option 1, and who also had dark rims, and I decided that one was win. Now I just need to scare up some money for the paint work....

Option 1 (even though I'm kinda late I guess). Let me know where you end up going and what kind of a deal you get Jay, I'm still kickin around the idea of a CF hood and would paint it V style if I got one.

What is the point of eyelids, guess I never understood. As far as the paint on hood goes, why not wait until you get a blemish or rock chip? Seems premature for a visual mod that isn't a big gain IMO. It's time for FMIC!

I agree. I dont think the paint is necessary. I think it would look good with just the CF grille and hood, no paint.

That's probably how it will be for awhile, Joe. I just like the way the painted hood + matching grille emphasizes the lines on the front of the car.
