FYI To unlock the Nordschleife:

How to unlock Nurburgring Nordschleife for Arcade and Practice Modes?
Various versions of the Nordschleife may be unlocked for Arcade and Practice modes by participating in the AMG Challenge (Special Events) at Intermediate level. Players must have reached Level 12 in A-Spec mode to be able to access this event. Scoring Bronze awards in all five sections unlocks the Nordschleife circuit (with and without time/weather changes); all Silvers unlocks the 4 hr circuit (Nordschleife and GP circuit combined) with no time/weather changes; all Golds unlocks the 24 hr circuit (Nordschleife and GP circuit combined) with time and weather changes. There is no other way to unlock these circuits

While no final lap times / screen shots need be posted until Sunday night, it'd be cool if people posted what minute range they are getting into so people have an idea, 8's 9's, 10's etc.

Picklz- I horked some information from GRM that may prove useful to you. They've run piles of racing leagues in both Forza, and now GT5, and their ruleset looks fairly solid. They also have a decent spreadsheet setup of a buncha different cars and stuff, weights, how they would class them, etc etc.

Here's the ruleset....

Welcome to the (un)official GRM - Gran Turismo 5 racing League. This is a championship series based on the cars and spirit of the Grassroots Motorsports (and what is available in GT5).
This league will consist of 10 races run weekly, and 3 classes (GRM, G600, and CM).
GRM - (123 Cars) Primarily consisting of cars from the 80s and 90s, this class is restricted to a maximum HP rating of 350, and a minimum weight of 1000kg. All cars in this class will run on Sport tires. G600 - (61 Cars) Similar to the GRM class, except for larger cars. This class is restricted to a maximum HP of 600, and a minimum weight of 1350kg. All cars in this class will use Race tires. CM - (42 Cars) The Classic Motorsports class is for the cars of yesteryear, all cars are older than 1974 and will vary widely in weight and HP. All cars in this class with use Comfort tires. Points:
1st - 10 points
2nd - 8 points
3rd - 7 points
4th - 6 points
5th - 5 points
6th - 4 points
7th - 3 points
8th - 2 points
9th - 1 point
Points for the championship will consist of your 8 highest scores. With this, missing a race won't eliminate your chances.
First tie breaker is total wins. Second tie breaker is a 1 lap shootout on the final track of the season.
Administration - Since PD and Sony are rolling out online features "one at a time". The league will be administered using the advanced technology of Excel. I'll maintain and share the spreadsheet as the championship progresses. Currently contained are all available cars and their classifications:
Administrative Spreadsheet
You will have to compete using the same car throughout the series. Changing your car with result in a DQ. You can however tune / tweak your car to the limits of your class.
If the car you would like to use is not listed, send me a message and let me know. If it is a fair matchup and within the spirit of the competition I'll add it.
Registration:
If you would like to compete in 1 or more classes, please send me a PM by December 10th listing:
PSN ID GRM ID Desired Class(es) Desired Car Schedule:
Tentatively scheduling races to be held on Thursday evenings (unless someone has a major conflict). Each class race would run sequentially, with GRM going first at 8PM Central Time. Races would be schedule for approximately 30 minutes, with a 15 minute break between classes.
Event schedule will be posted shortly.
Feedback... I am open to all of it! I'll update this post as needed.
Let's race!

Here's an absolutely minty spreadsheet that some guy made that I am liberating for our own shens.

I don't really want to run a league like this for quite a few reasons, if someone else wants to start one up I'd be all for it, but I kind of like the different car/track combo and flexibility to race when we have time / etc. That said great information and I will have a look-see at that spreadsheet. *goes back to TOONING miata*

No time yet, but we'll just say my NC has cost me almost 250k, and I still need race tires. You can probably figure out how built it is.

I was right around 8:58 on my very first lap with a fully upgraded ms roadster like JTs. And that was with a handful of 4 wheel offs... and a barrel roll.

This just in, you make it around the track quicker if you don't spin out, or do barrel rolls. lol.

SRSLY? I didn't even touch any tuning sections - just bolted it up and went and she topped out at 190mph lol. With some better gearing I should be well into the 7s.

The gear ratios in GT5 are fucked up on a LOT of the cars, and they don't immediately bolt you for top speed runs when you do the adjustable ratio rig.

The Story Teller....
So now we can only do suspension, drivetrain, tires, and transmission mods.......... Dats no fun.

Sure it is, either way it's a level playing field this just helps to ensure that so people don't have to have 300k credits every week to have a chance at participating. I have not had a chance to get a list of <$150k cars and set a random car/track for this week yet, and I'm going to be out of town till Wednesday night, so if someone who has GT5 could pick a car at random thats in the new car dealership and <$150k that'd be great, first person to post gets to pick. Track will be Tsukuba this week. As soon as a car is picked I'll start up the week 2 thread.

Also I will update the rules, but Im thinking on a normal week car/track will be posted on Monday, anyone wishing to compete for prizes must 'enter' by wed or thur, and is thus required to participate in the prize buying / giving / receiving, if that sounds good? That way we know who's participating before people start posting Times. This applies to our GT5 owners only of course since we cant cross-game give cars or anything.
