Router took a shit (Linksys WRT54G)

So a router that was working fine all weekend, not will not carry a signal more than 5 min on any wireless device. With the help of the proud 9pm chatbox warriors, I got into the system settings, played with some shit, and still nadda. We've had this for a good 2-3 years now, and looks to be time to replace it.

Is it just that common for when they go out, the wireless just goes to shit like this?

And I'm running to Best Buy to grab a new one tomorrow after work, any thoughts on models currently out to pick up or avoid straight up?

I just got a new router a little over a month ago.

I went with a Cisco Valet M20 HERE

Setup was not as easy as they said but i have had zero issues with it. Plus you can set up a wireless hotspot for friends and family to use. I now can run all three of my laptops and both my phone and my sons itouch with no slow down or hiccup in service.

Also here a thread with this topic being discussed already. HERE

I use to have that exact same router twice, and had that exact same problem twice, in less then one year. Got the first 300N model after that and have had no issues for several years now.
