well after it warms up i will be getting the windows tinted. what is the legal % in MN?

Most will probably agree you are unlikely to get hassled for 30-35% though technically they could tag you for it.

20%. That is the only acceptable answer. Also, you should do your windows ASAP. If the car is sitting, that is less likely that you'll roll them down, and they need to cure for like a week.

I used to have a 2005 mazda3 hatch. I got it tinted to 20% almost exactly a year ago, and then sold it to get my MSP in April. doh!

I also managed to get pulled over for illegal tint and no front plate... (though the cop told me if it was one or the other, he wouldn't have bothered me) so I ended up paying $300 and some change to enjoy my tint for about 4 months.

Yeah, I have 20% on a car identical to yours Stealth, and I've been pulled over twice, and the cop has not said a word about it either time. Maybe I just look innocent......
