here is my impressions.
Its very close to my stock ms3, but the SS pulls hard until redline. (stock vs stock)
the interior does feel cheap, the shift knob and hand brake for sure.
The mesh on the seat (I was sitting passenger side) rubbed my arm and it sorta hurt...
I hate not having a arm rest, HID's, auto dimming rear view mirror, nice shift knob.

Other than that the car handles well, steering wheel felt nice but too many buttons on it. The power was good, but feels held back like it wants to get some parts and unleash hell ;) Its hard to say what feels faster but my ms3 with intake felt faster than a stock ss. Which it probably is power vs power it would be higher. But the SS gearing is NUTS, you dont have to shift out of 2nd till like 60 or higher hahha my ms3 was like 30. 2010 ms3 has new gearing.

I am still excited for the SS, the little things to sorta bug me since I had everything loaded even auto sensing windshield wipers. The thing that still makes me wonder is, how can it be priced the same as a ms3 but not even have 1/2 the options the ms3 had and they are both a similar power/handling. hopefully it helps in negotiations. I still want the SS because of its reliability and coupeness. Also having GMPP release a stage kit and keep warranty will be fantastic. Over all its a great powertrain, good power, good handling, but I think they over charge.

When you sit in the MS3 and look around, feel that wonderful interior, it really looks like something special. I'm sure that the cheap GM interior is kind of a shock after living with the 3 for a while. But the power is there, and the handling is there in the SS. Its been proven time and time again. If you want performance the SS is going to give it to you.

On a funny side note, I was at Morries and I took out a TOTALLY RICED OUT Ion Redline (you know, the supercharged one) and I was loving it. Had the recaro seats, which were MUCH better than I thought, really snug and wonderful, the clutch and shifter was really light and the supercharger whine was fun. It had a center exhaust which sounded about as good as any car I've ever heard in my life...oh and it had a HUGE wing. Had 19k miles and the sticker said $9,800. I was thinking it was a good deal, but the guy said the sticker was a mistake, the price is actually $12,900 which is waaaaay too much.

Good luck on your search. I can imagine dealers out there trying to really make deals, so the price should come way down...also they have that 100k powertrain warranty on them which could come in very handy if your raging on the car. BTW: Morries said that there dealership warranties the powertrain "for life" on new cars purchased from them.

I would not be surprised at all if they added stipulations to that, as in you have to have Morries do all of your oil changes, scheduled maintenance, etc.

and how long would they really warranty a modded car once they find out?

Fast or not it's still a cobalt / caviler. I do respect the car as it's right up there with the MS3 for performance, but IMO it's not worth what they are charging for it. Have you looked at the Genesis Coupe at all? I'd probably gravitate that way before the Cobalt SS myself, or at least drive both. I wish there were more options for sport coupes that weren't 40k+

yeah the interior is LACKING in quality feel. It looks ok, but doesnt feel good. Like the shift knob is plasticty. I will truly miss the ms3's interior feel. But I bought a new 2009 summit white SS with every option but the high rise spoiler and 6disc cd changer. I will have that lovely sun roof again! I think the genesis has a worse interior than the SS.....and rwd in the winter in duluth = fail boat ;)

The sound this car makes is amazing, stock. You can hear the bvp and turbo spool. shifter is tight, clutch is slightly harder. The power till redline is awesome. And a stage 1 kit was announced for end of JUne and stage 2 (stage 1 plus intake) is announced for sale in 3 months. That bumps it to 290hp and 320-340torq. I really bought the car for reliability and I've never had a coupe. so it does its purpose of driving great. But like my review I do not feel its worth near what they ask for. The car should be a 20k car no 25-26. I pulled a good deal out so I'm happy. I get to pick the car up Monday morning :)

lazer - yes the SC SS and redline are very nice to drive, I love that freaking whine, with intake it screams! Jeff only has stage 2 and exhaust and that sucker is mean. I dont get how people think they are worth 14-15 cuz a new 2008 SS is for sale at Gould chevy for 17995. SC car gets better mileage, still a reliable powertrain, but cant make as much power as easy as that DI turbo engine. Hopefully I can make a meet and you guys can see it :)

Yes its the last white one in the state. I'll debadge everything or leave the SS...cant decide.

No the RPD was not available on any car in MN. Um...some say its a little more gimmicky. I played with one at the cobalt ss meet 2 yrs ago when GMPP brought a SS down before they were even released. I hear the dashhawk works on them, so I'll just use that. The RPD can show you all your "stats" and be a shift light, you can see your 0-60 times etc like a dash hawk but in color and you can change the colors.
