Okay, so it's not the birth of the garage itself, but the start of its usefulness as a real garage. Thanks to the help of Tom and Colin--both in the form of crazy ideas as well as manpower--I now have this kickass workbench, some useful lighting, and a rockin sound system. Sorry about the crappy pics... my camera sucks balls.

Thanks in part to a careless Home Depot cashier, the workbench rang in at well under $80 (free 2x4's FTW!). And this thing is sturdy as all hell--you could rebuild an engine on this badboy, no problem! Next in line: a pegboard backing, a plywood shelf for under the workbench, shelving for the audio equipment, a third row of fluorescent lighting, and some nice white lighting above the bench. Oh, and a tiled floor with a huge mazda logo pattered into it!
So yeah, huge props to Tom and Colin for all the help and good ideas! :score010:
