between the 6 main colors... primary: red, yellow, blue and secondary: green, orange, purple... the opposite of a primary color is the secondary color that doesn't include the primary...

green and red: green doesn't contain any red.
orange and blue: orange doesn't contain any blue
purple and yellow: purple doesn't contain any yellow
