Bought an STI

Well, the time has come for me to move on from my mazdaspeed protege. She will forever be missed! I traded it in yesterday for a 2004 Subaru WRX STI. The Subie was a great deal that I just couldn't pass up. It's unfortunate that the MSPs are depreciating faster than I would guess most of us MSP owners are paying off our loans (unless you have it paid off that is!). I did take a bit of a hit on the car, but then again the turbo was shot and leaking oil everywhere. At least the extended warranty proration will cover most of what I didn't get back!

The Subie is pretty salty from the weather, but as soon as it clears up I will post some pics. She is absolutely gorgeous! I will also be posting a part-out thread for the items I pulled off the car before trading it in on msprotege.com. If you are interested in any of the following items, please email me at spdadct@yahoo.com as I will not be posting the part-out thread til Sunday.

Items that I will be getting rid of:

Autometer C2 boost, oil pressure, and air fuel guages
Tinted side markers
2.5" downpipe
factory axel-back exhaust
K&N stock airbox filter (only used 2,000mi)
Single din 3-guage pod (angled toward driver)
Cargo net for trunk
Factory Radio Bezzel
EBC Green Ceramic Rear Brake Pads (New In Box)
Turbo XS Manual Boost Controller
Stock Kenwood 8" sub and enclosure
*Sirius Satellite Radio Starmate 4 (New In Box)
*Corbeau A-4 Racing Seat (Leather and microsuede)
*Factory Kenwood deck
*Greddy Full Auto Turbo Timer

*****The items with stars I am not 100% positive I am going to sell yet. I will post a link to the part-out thread on msprotege.com when I get it up.

Thanks!!!

No its not stock.... upgraded wastegate, bov, full 3" turboback, suspension, plug and play computer and a few other goodies. I haven't dug hard core into it yet. Its got some balls though!!!

Ash, is that downpipe you list an actual downpipe or just the j/midpipe? If so, I may well be interested in that and the gauge pod.

Congrats on the new ride

ALSOOOOOOOOOOOOO

for those of you who were debating greatly on the sti vs evo, coming from a girl who has been driving an evo for the past month and now buying an sti.....

yes the evo is faster stock than the sti, BUT not by much
the sti does have a little more forgiving suspension= smoother ride
I PERSONALLY think the evo feels a bit torqueier (SP?) than the sti but then again, the evo is running 21 psi, my sti is running 14.

Also, the warranty that I canceled and got $900 back on was Protective Advantage. For everyone out there who has this coverage, MAKE SURE IN THE FINE PRINT YOU GOT TURBO COVERAGE.

Well I can tell you this much you won't ever get low HP at a dyno event again. Sound like a nice car. Be sure to bring it to a detail day for a nice bath and then I can give it a good rogering. lol

I'm afraid my warranty is through Protective Advantage, I'll have to go digging tonight to figure out what I have... I wonder if they'd cut me a check for that money since I've moved my loan to a different lender???

I highly doubt they'd cut you a check. The lender who has your loan right now would not want you having that extra money as essentially an unsecured loan.

That really sucks, because I payed extra cash up front so the monthly wouldn't go up because of the warranty. Fawk. What about depreciation?

On the warranty? Until you enter the extended warranty period, you should be able to get a full refund on it.

Also, if you paid extra cash for the warranty, that might change things. I dinno.

ya. I really need to check mine out. I swear it was directly from Morrie's though and mirrors the factory warranty.

I would assume you should be able to cancel your warranty whether you are past your factory on or not. Especially if you paid cash. My bf bought the extended warranty on his evo and got pissed when they wouldnt cover the sincros and canceled it. He got a full refund on it. I would highly reccomend those of you looking for warranty that haven't bought one go talk to Morrie's Cadillac Saab dealer in Wayzata. That is the dealer that I got my warranty through (we did a dealer pass through on the sti as it was purchased from a private dealership) and they were EXTREMELY helpful and I got complete coverage on the STI for a really good price! I just don't want to see anyone else get fucked over on their warranties when shit isnt covered. Its damn stressful finding rides each day while your car is dead in the driveway and you need to find $3000 for a repair your warranty doesn't cover!

Yeah, even if you are into your extended warranty, you can still cancel it and have the "unused" portion refunded.
