Vegas Travel tips and idears (Was where to stay, but I got that covered)

Figured I'd see if anyone has spent time in Vegas in the last year or two, and where you might recommend looking at to stay.

Planning to go for 5-6 days in May and I'm looking for something on the strip that is nice, but not eleventybillion dollars.

Luxor was suggested already - reviews seem mixed and it's on the very end of the strip which isn't ideal, but pricing is quite attractive. Seems TI has some nice deals at the moment so I'm going to look for reviews on tripadvisor and elsewhere for them next, but I'd like to hear where people have stayed, when, and what they liked/disliked!

I guess to add - if there was anything you saw/did (shows, clubs, tours, etc) that you would recommend (or recommend against), I would welcome that information as well.

LAST time I was in vegas, I stayed at some shitty comfort suite or something off the strip. Only reason I did that is because it was free. I'd say anything at the Luxor end of the strip (MGM, Excalibur, Luxor) would probably be the least pricy, unless you hit like, the Imperial, or one of the smaller ones closer to the middle. Only hotel I have MAJOR XP with is Excalibur. Decent hotel, however, it was feeling pretty dated when I was there, and lacked a lot of the amenities that one would expect from some of the newer facilities.

I've stayed in Vegas twice. Once at Excalibur (rofl) and another at Aladdin.

The Wynn is where I want to stay next. I was the most impressed with it at of all of them.

If you are going with your lady. I'd vote their.

The Wynn - topless pool = The Win.

The Wynn has a Ferrari dealership on the ground floor. I see no reason to stay anyplace else.

On the strip, TI is where we stayed the last time we were there. Prices were mid-range, the amenities were good and it's right across the street from the mall and the Wyn, with plenty of shopping and restaurants to pass the time. If gambling is your thing, my co-workers that head to Vegas a few times a year (BIG gamblers....invitations they get for comp'd rooms are all velvet-covered hardcovered super-fancy deals) highly recommend either New York, New York (because the elevators from the rooms come down right into the casino) or the MGM, but apparently the MGM has "good rooms" and really scuzzy "bad rooms" so you need to be careful about what you're getting there.

Off-strip, I've stayed at the Rio all-suite hotel. The rooms are about double or triple the size of other hotels, and they have great amenities on-site for a mid-range price. The only down-side to the place is the location really.

I stayed at TI when my ex and I visited for a few days and it was a pretty nice joint. Went two years ago for a bachelor party and stayed at the Imperial Palace.... a little on the ghetto side, but right on the strip, and hella cheap, plus, they have built in breathalizers in the walls on the casino floor so you can see how wasted you are.

Thanks for all the input guys, I was @ The Wynn (didn't stay there) last time I was in Vegas and it is nice for sure, but the prices are pretty steep for the time-frame I'm looking at going. I actually found a deal I could not pass up for a suite at the Palazzo which is the sister resort/hotel/casino to the Venetian and is right by TI, Wynn, etc. so flight and room are taken care of. I'm still open to hearing about where to go for shows, gambling, eating, clubs, etc.

I stayed at the Westin the last time I was there. Place is great only a block off the strip with really nice rooms.

Picklz- the best food reccy I can give is the food mall at Ceasars. It's right by the regular mall (which is 100x better than any mall we have... the stores are insane.... the GF will enjoy it) and it's fairly reasonably priced... and whatever food you get is prepared by a dude from that place. As in- I got REAL ramen from a real Japanese dude. Other than that, we just kinda laid low and ate McDondalds. Hit a buffet tho, we ate at one at the Mirage one time, and it was amazing.... the level/amt of food is staggering.

Yeah, I totally made the suggestion for the Wynn w/o reading OP about price.

The rolliecoster on top of New York New York is a must. Collecting a whole envelope full of prostitute cards and mailing them back to someone should be considered.

I saw the Blue Man group and being a fan of live music, I thought it was amazing.

If you are looking for cheap food McDonalds or Dennys.

Hard Rock Hotel has a place that serves $5 steak and eggs from like midnight to noon. We went there for breakfast like twice while we were there. Cheap and awesome. Behind the Westin is a place with like $8 or $9 BBQ dinner everynight I think. Includes half rack of ribs and half chicken plus beans, coleslaw corn and toast. Super filling and very good for the price. It's called Ellis Island Casino and Brewery.

And of course you can't miss the Bellagio buffet. It ain't cheap but it's def worth it. Go before like 4PM and get in for the lunch price which is about $20 cheaper and stay for dinner when they switch it over at 4.

Stayed at the Mirage when I was there a few years back. They had a buffet with huge crab legs and excellent prime rib every night, pure awsomeness, ate there for about half the dinners. Nice rooms, great local, but had to head over to TI to find the $5 blackjack tables. Can't comment on the overall price, we had 2 rooms, 10 people, and had deals on the rooms.

You know we did! Lunch price is like $25 or something like that, and dinner is 40-45. Lunch price is only good on weekdays or something like that. First time we tried to go on friday or saturday and there was no lunch price. Check it out first day you get there. Prices are all listed out front of the restaurant.

Dinner is when they bring out the good stuff too like king crab legs and prime rib. I think we each ate 1-2 lbs of king crab legs lol!

Ok, here it is:

http://www.bellagio.com/restaurants/the-buffet.aspx

Hours of Operation:
BREAKFAST $15.95
Mon - Fri 7:00 am - 11:00 am
LUNCH $19.95
Mon - Fri 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
DINNER $29.95
Sun - Thu 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
GOURMET DINNER $36.95
Fri - Sat 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
WEEKEND BRUNCH $24.95
With Champagne $29.95
Sat - Sun 7:00 am - 4:00 pm

So FRIDAY is the day to go. That's when they still have the lunch price, but they also have the weekend Gourmet Dinner with the best food out. Dif is $20 and $37 so you save a good chunk. Just get in at like 3:30 and have a few appetizers/salad before the main course comes out at 4. I think they stop seating for like 15 mins before dinner start too, so don't be late.

Never been to Vegas, but when I do I'll be going here:

http://www.exoticsracing.com/

5 laps around a track in a Aston, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, etc. for like $300 with instruction and they let you drive them all out.

I saw that the other day too, Tim! I was planning on renting a viper (SRT/10) from one of the dream/exotic rental places for a day, but I'm tempted to do that instead or possibly in addition to, looks like a TON of fun. Hard part would be choosing which car to race/drive.

Anyone seen any of the Cirque shows? We were looking at going to O at the Bellagio.

That looks like a legit rental place. My cousin and I looked into one that was right on the strip, only to find out that the cars were all governed to like 60mph, and you were restricted to keeping it only on the strip!
