Wal-Mart on Blu-ray bandwagon

I agree Jay, but everything is still out in regular DVD's, nobody is forcing anyone to upgrade to BRD / HD DVD. Now yes if you want HD then you have to make a decision - If you buy one or the other and don't know enough that there is a format war and one or the other may not always be around then I guess thats too bad.

If you do know about the format war and don't want to have two HD formats then I guess you're just stuck waiting it out. Don't get me wrong I'd rather one or the other take over so we can be done with this sillyness - I don't really care wish.

Just stated my reasons for going HD now, I hope they win so I only have one format, if not I'm not really out much besides having red and blue cases in my dvd rack.

I don't really care either. I'll just stack the Blu-ray player on top of my VCR and the HD-DVD player on top of my Beta.

Oh and those will fit nicely on top of my Super Audio CD player and Mini-disc player. :D

Nice work- I actually forgot about SACD. That's fantastic. Sony must have been :JD: with their market research...

I am pushing for Blu-Ray as I have a PS3 and its format is Blu-Ray to begin with. From the sound of it, HDDVD is losing is strength on a minute by minute basis. About once a month some big name announces they will only push BR-DVD.

And Jay, you can use itunes music on other players as long as you didnt D/L it off the iTunes store.

While whatever format the pron industry backs usually wins, Toshiba is pretty much ready to pull the plug on HD-DVD (they've all but admitted it in press releases lately). Which is fine with me, because Blu-ray is technically superior.

Don't talk trash about MiniDisc, I loved that format.

That's what I meant. You download something from the iTunes store and you're stuck using iTunes and an iPod.

Also, I'm just feeling extra curmudgeonly and anti-huge corporation today. Which is why wal-mart can bite my ass :D

Oh, and Sony and it's slew of proprietary formats can bite my ass too. :D

the pron industry formally stated that it would not release anything on either until a clear winner was announced, but now there are a few of the HUGE pron hits on blueray

Just to further clarify, you can use songs you D/L off the iTunes store on other shit too, but you need to copy it to a cd and then copy back into iTunes....

On Topic: I also remember reading press releases over a month ago now, that Toshiba was ready to cave on the entire format... Sorry, but HD-DVD has no chance at this point. Go take a look at companies that support Blu-Ray only... Its some major companies... I believe Warner signed to Blu-Ray only as well, but dont quote me.

I'm SUPER glad I didn't get the HD DVD player for my xBox. I still don't think I'll get a PS3 or a even a Blue Ray player for some time right now.

I am going to just wait it out a bit. I got a mini-disc player when they came out and look what happened to them.
