What Engine Oil Do You Use?

Thanks for all the input. I think I'm going to try the Pennzoil, kit seems to be the most popular choice in my research. Next question, I have worked on a few cars with cartridge type filters, do you really need to purchase the Mazda SST cartridge wrench? The ones I have worked on can use a socket or SST from the manufacture.

You don't need the SST, but you will need an oil filter wrench. Should only cost a few bucks at a parts store. Check around some of the larger forums to figure out the correct size (unless someone here knows off-hand)

I have the SST adapter, it makes like a lot easier. the cartridge housing is prone to crushing, and IDK about the ms6, but its sort of a bitch to get a filter wrench in there.

The SST is just a special mazda version of an off the shelf oil filter wrench.... and by oil filter wrench, I mean one of these, not the OG strap kind.

When I had my 3, i bought one at OReilly for about 6 bucks.

Yeah, that's the thing I have. IT's like 15$ from Mazda, but you have to order them, otherwise, go to Vatozone, stand there and stare at the OTS ones, ask the guy behind the counter if they have (whatever size it is) in stock, and have a guy behind you ask if it's for the ms3 in the parking lot. He will then tell you that he's a former Mazda tech and has one back at his house he will give you. You'll then go back to his place, check out his FB, and get free tools.

At least that's how I did it.
