Oh... so I bought a grommet tool. It came with 12 grommets, they are all brass unfortunately so I have to find something to paint them with, but I plan to do the floormat mod tonight.

Yeah, I plan to paint them black. It seems really straight forward. I'll probably take a few pics and post a how-to after I get it done. I think I actually have some black touch-up paint for a metal futon I have that I'm gunna try and use on grommet.

Can o' rhinoliner (do they make that in spray cans?) would work awesome, and be great for no slip/no chip.

Nice numbers man! It would be interesting to see how our cars would match up on the track. You get any problems with turbo smoking? I just got word from Morries that the replaced my turbo today. I'm going to pick it up tonight and hopefully everything works fine. BTW...I didn't return the car to stock when I brought it in. They knew of the problem and took care of it quickly. Hopefully with this new turbo my numbers will be a little better!

Young Roids - I believe you can mod a car all you want with boltons...but without a tune, you wont see much gains. I think this MS3 computer is so advanced that it is actually counteracting the mods and running how it wants to. Granted there is more torque and more power, I think its really being restricted. And I totally believe Shadyspeed, TBE is the sweetest mod! Sounds good and I believe thats where we are getting most of our torque from.

Have you noticed much difference in handling at all with that added bracing? I've considered getting that before myself.

If its blackish smoke, and smells like burnt oil, then you are in for a new turbo! As long as your car is still under warranty, the dealership should replace it. My smoke was horrible, and stunk up their garage at Morries pretty good. As long as they can reproduce it, you will get a new one. Good luck!

Yeah, no more cats on my car. I was throwing the code on and off. When I brought my car in for the new turbo, I threw a "bad cat" code, which the dealership cleared. I've driven the car for about 120 miles since and it hasn't come back on *fingers crossed*. I have seen a thread on mazda247 about sparkplug non-foulers for speedproteges and how that stopped them from throwing that code. Perhaps you could try that? Friggen CELs are annoying...argh....

Just noticed in your sig that you are running a range colder spark plugs. Is that necessary on these cars if you are not turning up the boost?

UPDATE 1/26/09

i started this new year by having a custom 2.5" full intake made by chris from realstreet. i did all the removal and installation and he had to weld it up. he had a kit that he made for a company when the speed6 came out for a full intake and frontmount that he never sold so we took the intake side and put it on my car.

its a two piece kit the tube that has the main intake and bpv reciruc dump fit perfectly we just had to custom build the piping of the top half that has the maf sensor and filter. i have to replace a coupling that was bad but we put on for temporary reasons.. ill be getting full pictures up of it.

this year i am getting new hawk front pads. tuning (either cp-e standback or MABYE cobb ap) to fix my boost cut. tuning at db once i get the hardware/software and money. gt spec rear bracing and trunk brace. and sport springs. and that should be it!

I feel with all these mods I will have a good running, good gas milage, awesome track car, that i will have HOPEFULLY a little over 300fwhp daily driver! just wanted to get the update for this year and hope to see some more mazda peeps up at brainerd this year!!!

anyone plan on going?

Sounds like you've got a great track package there. I went to Brainerd last year for $20 bucks. i don't think I'll be back paying hundreds of dollars for a track day, even if it was an unworldly experience.

UPDATE! 5/5/09

So I found someone to buy the 240 for $2100 and its time to get the mazda the final pieces to complete godzillra! I will be ordering a replacement used turbo that i am gonna rebuild and port. getting the forge wga to handle the extra mods and boost creep problem and then to top it off i found someone on 247 selling a standback and plug and play for uber cheap (and if you buy it before me i will hunt you down!)! and then when its all back together it will be tuned to run safe. but i woudnt mind breaking the 300whp mark!!! hopefully without killing my mpgs sucess.

there are no words for how excited i am to have my car back up to par and not running like crap. just thought id update ya'll. comments would be awesome!

gots the monies for the 240sx today and the cp-e standback with plug and play harness is ordered. went to MAP and ordered the forge waste gate actuator and the turbo is on its way as well! should have everything early next week and will begin porting and polish on the turbo.

i think everything should be on the car by months end and tuned around there as well! finally not gonna have to worry about boost creep or super rich a/f ratio's

still no comments? :signs066:

why the cpe-stand back over the cobb ap?
I want somthing that is gonna have some backing from the mfg behind it. all i need is somthing to clean up my a/f ratios and thats all i should need. plus i got the cp-e unit with the plug and play harness for $575 shipped! if i were to buy just those two things new, it would of been $955. i got those two parts plus the forge wga and the used turbo for $840 shipped all together! smokin deal if i say so!

i would tom but im not looking for anymore power. im super happy where i am plus i talked to map about the mani, and they said that they were not going to offer that work anymore. it was too much of a hassle is what they told me.

all that is left is brakes and more suspension/bracing. mabye a wideband and some more gauges.

I'M OFFENDED!
So I have the one, the only, THE ported intake mani? Wow, I feel special. From what I had last heard, they were still gonna do it, and that they had just bought some stuff for the dyno so they could log boost for the work and see what happened.
