August 10-12, 2012 -- 6th Annual MNMazda Camping Trip

What: MNMazda's 6th annual summer camping extravaganza!
When: August 10-12, 2012 (Friday - Sunday)
Where: Lost Falls Campground (http://www.lostfalls.com/ Near Black River Falls, WI)
Why: To partake in tasty adult beverages, engage in fascinating intellectual conversations, drift lazily down a sandy-beached tubing river, and consume delicately grilled meat products!


So, here's the skinny. I am looking to reserve Group Site 1 (http://www.lostfalls.com/cgmap.shtml) which holds 4-7 tents (maybe 8 if we get cozy). I need to put up the full amount for 4 tents x 2 nights in order to make the reservation. I am happy to do that, but I need 3 additional groups who are willing to commit (and can then pay me back sometime between now and the camping trip). Any additional campers can simply pay when we arrive. Cost is $30 per tent per night, plus tax.

NOTE: The group site does not have power or water. If you need power for whatever reason, you will probably have to look at getting separate site. Or bring a really really long extension cord. lol Also, they do have cabins for rental, so if you're into that you'll have to check availability.

Fantastic work Jay, looking forward to this trip! I had a blast last year, too anyone on the fence about joining: definitely go! This is always the best MN Mazda event of the year IMO.

I'll have Jess make sure she's able to get the 10th off from work and line up my folks to watch the girls this weekend before I commit completely, but now that it's finalized I'll get to work nailing things down.

Okay, we are officially reserved for August 10-12! So like I said, 3 other groups will be paying me directly at some point, and any additional groups after that will be paying the campground upon arrival. But we can work out all the details later.

The site is really big, so we could easily get 6 tents in there, and the more the merrier for sure. AJ mentioned maybe checking out the cabins and last year Josh and Shelley stayed at a tent site on the upper level to give them electricity, so there's definitely flexibility for those that don't necessarily want to "rough it." There are regular bathrooms and showers at the main office building and port-a-potties down by the site (but not too close) in case anyone, or their significant other, are concerned about amenities.

Hopefully we can get another 3 or 4 tents of people to join us this year. Come check it out folks!

Yep, when I talked to the managers, they said they have had groups as big as 8 tents stay there no problem.

Plenty of shade in the group site in case it's a hot day, but I don't recall any problems with bugs or mosquitoes last year. Plus, it's only a short path down to the river where there's a nice big sand beach to chill on. The tubing ride is roughly 2.5 - 3 hours with no stops, but I think last year we got in around 10am, stopped for lunch halfway, and made a nice 4-5 hour trip out of it.

Yeah, I still won't be going. I don't have the money right now...if it gets closer and you still have room and something changes, maybe I'll come. Not sure how my son will do if I have him. Would be a good time to find out though.

Decided against the reunion Picklz?

I don't think it's worth the money, but since it's close to home, I think I'll lounge outside and wait for people to come in and out and talk to them then...if there is anyone there I want to see...I think it's going to be horrible honestly, but I would love to see a fight start or some drama of some sort.

To all you "maybe"s... any idea when you will be able to give a yes or no? And to anyone else, there is still plenty of room left! If you're in the weird little football-shaped area of the Venn diagram of "I like camping" and "I am a mnmazda member" then you don't want to miss this :D

The stars are aligning and it's looking like this is falling on the one weekend in Aug that we have open so you can move us to definetly in.

*sigh* Too many prior commitments that weekend we just can't make it work, hopefully next year, I'm going through MNMazda camping trip withdrawl!
