August 10-12, 2012 -- 6th Annual MNMazda Camping Trip

Crap, Jay I totally forgot to ask my folks if they can take the kids when they were up last weekend for Merin's birthday. I'll try to get in touch with them in the next few days. They're at the lake until later next week, so I may not have an answer until then, if they need to check their calendar etc.

Welp, we're down to a month out. Looks like it's going to be a small group this time, but as long as we have the 4-tent minimum for the group site it should be gravy.

Time to start thinking about planning the trip and getting all the details worked out.

Speaking of leaving and planning, when are we planning on leaving for this trip?

I would like to plan on leaving late morning friday, stopping for lunch in/around Eau Claire, and arriving early afternoon. Does that work for everyone else?

I'm not sure if taking a day off will be an option for me. I have a boundary waters trip at the end of this month that I've taken two days off for, but that trip is in question now. If it falls through, I'm in for leaving early Friday.

Well, it would only be a couple of cars (if even that) leaving early, so it's not like you'd miss some giant hilarious caravan :)

As far as the alcohol situation goes, with this small of a group I am thinking we forego hassle of searching out a keg and just go with bottles/cans. There are a couple of liquor stores in Black River Falls, but they are pretty small and one of them only accepted cash. So we should probably plan on either stocking up on our own time or else hitting up a place in Eau Claire. Thoughts?

Friday bump!

Time to start thinking about equipment/supplies. I have a cookstove and various cooking sundries I can bring along. I also have a large plastic washtub I was thinking about bringing so we can fill it up with ice and use it for easy access to beer!

I have all kinds of camping gear. Let me know what we need and I can bring it if I have it.

I started a list in the first post for keeping track of the larger items that can be shared (so we don't all overpack). If you've got something that would be good for community use or know of something that would be good to have, post it up and I'll add it to the list.

I have a friends camp stove coffee pot. Never used it, not sure if it works but I'll try and figure that out and bring that along.

4 weekends out!

Can we get a count on who is planning on leaving friday morning and who would be leaving later in the day?
