Ok so this is getting closer and I was just wondering when people were thinking of heading over that way...Friday morning, afternoon, Thursday? I believe she told me that we could go anytime if there was no one there that Thursday night before. Otherwise it might be noon. Anyone planning on an early adventure over there?

I'm starting a new job next week, provided I'm not on-call over this weekend Kelsey and I will probably head there Friday evening after work, I should know more towards the end of the month.

I'd like to head up friday morning if anyone else is going to. But if most people are working friday, that's fine too.

I'm pretty sure Jess and I were planning on heading that way Friday morning around 10-11 or so. That way we'll miss the rush hour traffic, stop in Eau Claire to drop off the kids with my folks and then get down to the campground around 2ish, if we stop for lunch on the way.

Seems like a fairly small crowd this year. Should we talk about working out a menu together as a group, or do we want to fend for ourselves? We could split up into groups of 2 tents/campers and each take a meal on Saturday or something....whatever we want to do. Anyone have any thoughts?

I think it might be a good idea to split up meal duty. It at least makes packing easier if you don't have to bring every last thing for the whole weekend.

I am up for whichever. We should be ready to go Friday late morning. Of course I am an hour out from the cities but that is ok. Jay are you in charge of the keg again or do you want to pass that on? If we do have the smaller crowd this year, maybe the smaller keg.

Unless it would go against all that is holy, we might even be able to skip the keg, although I'm fairly confident we'd be able to knock down a 1/4 barrel in a day and a half...lol Sunday drop-off in Wisconsin for the win too!!

I think a half barrel would be alright. I don't usually drink cheap beer, but when I do I prefer it from a keg vs bottles.

Here's my thought: let's default on a half keg unless more than a couple people won't be drinking from it. This year we'll just have to make sure to reserve one in advance and keep it cold on the way. I think we kinda screwed up last year on letting it get warm.

A good keg, cold cold cold and we will drink it. I am sure. It doesn't need to be too cheap. We also need someway to bring it tubing! I say pick it up near the site so we can have one on back up.

Why haven't more people signed up yet! There is plenty of room folks!!! It is going to be a blast and a beautiful drive!

It really is. If you're free that weekend, head on down! There's plenty of room. It'll probably run about $100 by the time you pay for the site, tubing and chip in on beer (if you're at least 21yrs old) along with some food...still pending arrangements on that.

Ok so now that we are getting a lot closer...there was chat about food and such. Is anyone wanting to talk about it in more depth or should we do what we normally do...bring what we want and share?

I just did a quick read-through of the thread and I came up with:

1) Jess + 1
2) Jay and Nanami
3) Pete and Jess
4) Josh and Shelley
5) Matt (Picklz) and Kelsey
6) Jurgen **maybe**
7) Russellspeed3 + 1 **maybe**

Even if we don't count the Maybes, we've got enough to have each couple (1-5) cover a meal starting with supper on Friday through breakfast on Sunday. Like Jay said, it might be a lot easier for us to plan on providing one meal for the group (we can sign up for what we want or they can be assigned if no one has a preference) rather than packing food for ourselves for 5 meals, give or take a meal depending on arrival time. We can always bring snacks or treats to share as we want (can anyone say beef sticks and beer FTW?!?!).

I'll text Josh and tell him to get his ass in here, but I still think it makes sense to each take responsibility for a meal and then bring some misc snacks and stuff like Pete said. Otherwise it's pretty much a given that we'll all end up with way more food than we need, especially with a smaller group.

Also, if everyone is still on board with a keg, I'll call around and see what I can find. Otherwise, we can always just grab a few cases or whatnot. I'm good either way.

But let's definitely keep the discussion going, since this is coming up fast! I really hope the weather holds out for us!

I count 14 people. I could grill up burgers or sausages for one of the lunches or dinners, I don't know how to make anything else
