And yeah, it's a universal issue that should be fixed on the next hack release. We just need to deal with it for now.

I tried to upload a bunch of pics from the camping trip yesterday. The process seemed to "go through" ok, but now the pics are nowhere to be found.

So what happened with the "Local Lounge" or whatever it was called?
Joe- are you thinking about reinstating the shoutbox in there? We kind of talked about how it would be cool if we could have that in a private area of the site... I think we've lost a lot of traffic since it was closed, probably wasn't the goal in mind when closing it.

I forgot to mention it to AJ and Nate, but I have done so. We will see what transpires. Patience young Danielson...

Traffic on the forums may have gone up, but it's still a freakin ghost town in there sometimes. Not that that's your fault--I just don't get why there are complaints about a lack of a shoutbox, while the off-topic threads in the lounge get only a couple of posts a day.

I mean, is the inconvenience of having to refresh the forum every few minutes really that bad that people would rather just not post at all, unless it's really important?

I'm playing devil's advocate here... but if I was a site admin, I could have a hard time being convinced of the need for a real-time off-topic chat, when the off-topic section of the forum is barely used. If the only section of the forum being used was the random chat thread, it'd be a different story... but that thread only gets posted in a few times a week. Seems to me that if a chat feature was really that important to people, that thread/section would be getting a bit more use.

In other words, actions speak louder than words. Convince the admins that we really need a dedicated off-topic chat feature, and you'll probably have a better chance of getting the shoutbox back. My $0.02

When it takes you 5 minutes to get the thing to reload, that can become an issue. Shoutbox doesn't have that problem. Most of us are on a limited internet timeframe, and can't stay logged in all day.... or take time writing posts. Although I do hear what you are saying.

Well, later tonight when I have more time, I will be posting a thread about the final decision on the shoutbox. I will need input from everyone on the site, at least those who feel passionately about it one way or another. Stay tuned...

My opinion on the shoutbox is known, but if we bring it back its best we keep it private...
