Hmm, I have been meaning to spend 80 bucks on something that I'll destroy with in minutes of owning.

Yeah, no RC chopper for me... hehe

We will soon.

John, can you post that link with the battery deals? I wanna look at getting a new set of batteries to go with the eventual Mamba upgrade.

I've been searching around, and it looks like the best deals out there are around $50 for a decent 4200 pack. Promatchracing.com used to offer 3-pack specials on batteries, but I don't see that they do that anymore...

Try giving Mark a call at the hobby shop in Hampton, and see what he might be able to do for ya. I know he's got some crazy strong EP4200 matched packs on his wall right now for $54 a pack (unassembled, but that's still a killer price, and those packs would RIP!!).

For those of you that are also thinking about going brushless, but don't want to shell out the cash for a brushless esc/motor combo, the Mamba Max brushless esc will also work with brushed motors, and has no motor limit in brushed mode, so you could strap in an 8 turn motor if you want, and later on you could add a crazy brushless motor when the funds are there.

The Novak esc's also work with brushed motors, but yeah, the Mamba is a pretty sweet setup!

Now all things considered. The Mamba 7700 is the eventual setup I want to run with. Is there any others out there I should consider? I know you run Tekin and Novak stuff..... Jst kinda curious as to my options, and if there is perhaps a cheaper way to go 70mph.

The Novak stuff only handles up to 7 cells, so you won't be able to get too crazy with that.

Both the Tekin R1 (which isn't out yet) and the Mamba will run on 3-cell lipos, which you'll need to get the speeds you're looking for. The Tekin is going to be more money than the Mamba, but it will have more tuning options, mainly used for racing.

In the end, the Mamba is probably going to be your best bet, and best bang for your buck.

One of the guys I race with actually has a 1/8th scale buggy powered by a giant brushless motor, and uses the Mamba Max esc with a 5 cell A123 battery pack from a DeWalt drill pack (16.5 volts!!!), and the Mamba has no issues powering the buggy. That's roughly equal to a 5-cell lipo...nutz!!

He's getting roughly 15-18 minutes of run time, and the esc is around 130 degrees after 15 minutes of running.

I've driven the buggy, and it's awesome!!!

Good god that thing has to be ultra stupid fast. I like the idea. Using a drill battery.

Wow, that was some amazing attitude control on that first jump! and some amazing...er... not-breaking skill on the second!

Now if a Revo can do that, the big jump should be no problem.
